The aim of the workshop is to practise fluent storytelling on stage.

When the common thread sounds blue

A look at the art of multilingual storytelling
"Nonna, perchè hai tanti peli sulla mano?" asked the fairy tale.
"Because I wore many rings when I was young," replied the grandmother.
What did the girl ask? What does the grandmother's answer refer to? The common thread
of a story that is told continuously in two or more languages transforms
into something else for a moment, only to reappear a few lines later. When
reading, it is more difficult to understand the meaning of this passage. But when listening to a
lively story, that's another story! The listeners draw on helpful
clues to follow the thread. In this workshop, we will playfully explore a story, look for suitable places to switch languages, and tell the story in two colours.

Maria Carmela Marinellistudied translation at the University of Bologna and German as a foreign language (DaF/DaZ) at the Friedrich Schiller University in Jena.

During and after her studies, she was a lecturer for Italian at the Language Centre of the Friedrich Schiller University in Jena. From 2009 to 2012, she completed a master's degree in theatre education at the University of Jena.

During and after her studies, she was a lecturer for Italian at the Language Centre of Friedrich-Schiller-Universität Jena.
From 2009 to 2012, she completed a master's degree in theatre education at the Berlin University of the Arts and, from 2011 to 2013, a certificate course in "Storytelling in Art and Education".

As a storyteller and theatre educator, she is involved in numerous projects and institutions throughout Germany and appears as a guest at various international storytelling festivals.
She is a founding member of ERZÄHLRAUM e.V. and initiator ofDie offene Erzählbühne Leipzig(The Open Storytelling Stage Leipzig) and the international storytelling festival "IMAGINE!".
