“In Your Heart You Are Invincible” tells the story of Mai’s tenacious struggle for self-determination and her unshakeable determination not to let herself be held back. One thing in particular helped her along the way: Shaolin Kung Fu. Her father is a Kung Fu master who expected his daughter to be his best pupil. And so she learnt to fight from a very young age. The training was tough, but it also became her salvation: for it was the principles of Shaolin Kung Fu that shaped Mai into the woman she is today, who fearlessly forges her own path.

Mai Duon Kieu was born in North Vietnam in 1987. In 1992, she moved to Chemnitz with her mother. Her breakthrough as an actress came in 2018 when she played one of the leading roles in the economic thriller series Bad Banks, an international production led by ZDF. She is now known to an audience of millions through several series, particularly in her role as neurosurgeon Dr Lilly Phan in "In aller Freundschaft" (ARD, MDR) and as Inspector Thuong Nhi Nguyen in the crime series Wilsberg (ZDF)
