Taupunkt e.V. | EATING FROM THE WORLD by JOHANNES HOFFMANN

http://www.taupunkt-chemnitz.de/

Advertising is no longer merely background noise. It permeates our digital daily lives just as much as it does the physical world. From supermarket shelves to smartphones, from feeds and
search queries to navigation routes and private messages, life has become a constant testing ground. Algorithms organise, analyse and predict. Average values give rise to probabilities, which in turn form models of what is considered normal.

In ‘aus der welt fressen’, these mechanisms are transposed to a specific location. Drawing on the voices of advertising specialists, surveyors, market researchers, residents, urban planners and algorithmic systems, a polyphonic picture emerges of a model city in which the centre—as the standard and the norm—is constantly being recalculated.

An interdisciplinary chamber play, oscillating between immersion and ritual, by Johannes Hoffmann and the WÜST collective in collaboration with the Burgenland Theatre Initiative. Awarded the Grand Arts Scholarship for the Performing Arts by the Province of Burgenland in 2023. Supported by the Province of Burgenland, the Burgenland Theatre Initiative and the Cultural Foundation of the Free State of Saxony.

Artistic team: Johannes Hoffmann, Magda Decker, Christian Selent, Alfred Masal
