Vietnamese and Buddhist fairy tales

Do you know what happened to "Tam and Cam", the Vietnamese sisters? And
have you heard about the sticky rice cake at the Tet festival? No? The Vietnamese-Buddhist fairy tale evening
Fairy tale evening sheds some light. The storytelling duo Tam Richter and Uta Davids will bring you
Stories from this mysterious culture and tell them in the context of tradition and the present
and the present. Some of the stories are told bilingually in Vietnamese and German. Some things are understood
without words and some things remain unsaid. In addition to a culinary surprise
traditional music - on the rare, one-stringed plucked instrument Dan Bau
(gourd zither) - and Asian movement art.

We invite you to an evening for all the senses, which will illuminate the Buddhist view of things in our world.
Tam Richter grew up on a farm in a rural suburb of Hanoi. Tam came into contact with the traditional world of fairy tales and stories at an early age through the stories told by her older siblings. What she learnt as a child, she later
later passed on to her children. This is how she became a storyteller.

In 2000, Tam Richter left Vietnam and came to Germany. She trained as a physiotherapist.
Still attached to her homeland, she brought up her children bilingually and in the spirit of Vietnamese tradition. She regularly took part in German-Vietnamese events as a specialist in Vietnamese storytelling.
Uta Davids grew up in the astronomy town of Pulsnitz with a strong connection to star stories.
She graduated from drama school in Berlin and became a puppeteer. Already at the theatre
Wismar and then as a freelancer, she performed fairytale programmes in front of audiences. Her favourite way to tell legends and historical stories is on city tours, during herbal walks and in a longevity context. She discovered bilingual storytelling through Erzählraum e.V..
